--- title: "Re: The Religion of Peace" date: 2023-11-29T00:00:00Z draft: false --- I've mentioned [thereligionofpeace.com](https://thereligionofpeace.com/) before on this journal, but I thought it deserved its own entry. Here's the description from the website: > "TROP is a non-political, fact-based site which examines the ideological threat that Islam poses to human dignity and freedom" It's a great resource and a strong rebuttal to Muslims who argue that Islam is a peaceful religion. Islam is not a peaceful religion. It is a hateful, repressive, and dangerous ideology. It's anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-progressive, and anti-freedom. Many of the other major world religions also spread bad ideology, but their practitioners tend to be more moderate thanks to multiple reformations, colliding with modern secular humanist values, and the hermeneutic flexibility of their scriptures. Islam never had a major reformation, it's insulated from modern secular humanist values, and the Quran doesn't lend itself to nonviolent interpretations. So Islam remains the most violent religion in the world today. Unfortunately in the west we have a lot of difficulty even talking about how dangerous Islam is thanks to radical leftists conflating every criticism of Islam as an ideology with racism against Muslims as people. This conflation is represented with a misleading term which has entered common parlance: "[Islamophobia](/2022/03/27/dont-call-people-homophobic-transphobic-or-islamophobic/ "Don't Call People Homophobic, Transphobic, or Islamophobic")". I've already discussed that term before, so I won't repeat myself here. The need for the conversation about Islam is especially pressing today as [millions of Muslims immigrate to Europe](https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2017/11/29/europes-growing-muslim-population/ "Europe’s Growing Muslim Population"), many of whom hold beliefs that are extremely regressive and incompatible with secular European values. Europeans are justified in being concerned about this and wanting to implement measures to curb the spread of Islam in Europe. The problem isn't that Muslims are brown or that they have different customs. The problem is what they believe. Allowing in more without any kind of screening process will continue to steer the ideological composition of Europe away from modern secular values. European leaders should be able to acknowledge this problem without being labeled racists. Edit (06-12-2023): Replace "screening process" with "strategy for dealing with Islam". I haven't done enough research to know if ideological screening would be effective. It might be ineffective or even counterproductive. Also, the statement about European leaders was meant in a strictly logical sense. I didn't mean to imply that they're being unjustly labeled racists. I don't know enough about it to say either way. P.S. If you're looking to be entertained, watch [this DarkMatter video](https://yewtu.be/embed/6_GYLxe3Vuk?local=true "Islamophobic") on the topic.
