I had professors that had no objection to using the word nigger in a neutral context, but even they were too afraid to use it. We have words that professors are too scared to even have purely academic discussions about. Instead, they use "the N-word", a term referring to the word, as if that's meaningfully different from just using the word itself. We should not have "forbidden" language that only certain groups of people are allowed to use.
